VILLAMIL & VILLAMIL
Villamil & Villamil, formed by brothers Felipe Villamil and Sebastián Villamil, proposed two activities for Cocina Plural that invited us through the game with food and images to ask ourselves and question ourselves about the economy, the hyperproduction of images and their relationships.
On November 19th we shared hot dogs at HAPPY MEAL to reflect on the excessive consumption of junk images that lead us to a constant saturation that seeks to sell a false idea of happiness and perfection. HAPPY MEAL was presented as a staging of elements that are used when eating where each object had messages, stock images and gestures that alluded to that toxic positivity to which we are exposed. While eating, the attendees transformed these elements by crumpling and staining them with the sauces to create a new mise-en-scene from the food waste and the deformation of the images in the garbage.
On November 12, we gathered at POP-UP to build a city of puffed soy cracklings. We assembled and experimented with the small soy figures to shape a fictional stage that stood wobbly in the kitchen. This weak, vulnerable and perishable scenario was presented as an allegory to the current economic crisis and inflation in which we are immersed. POP-UP allowed us to experiment with food and to think of the kitchen as a laboratory that invites us to investigate food as a stage and as a game.
