Who and what do we call upon when we talk about cooking?

Here today, we lean towards what emerges from an ordinary, everyday, and vital relationship with food and its transformation processes. A tendency that guides us to meet among strangers, among ordinary people.

Needing the other is the same as taking time seriously.

One-on-one communication demands time and its reevaluation from us; being present in an attentive manner enables a certain intimacy that strips our presences of expectations.

We met Margarita, Hilda, Consuelo, Necas, Esperanza, and María Luisa. They, every day, sustain life with the knowledge acquired from their own experiences, which have been forged - considerably though not exclusively - by tasks primarily assigned and imposed on women. Upon inquiry, these underestimated tasks reveal themselves as forms of agency, discovered to be filled with affections, notions of care, and aesthetic practices.

Suddenly, the kitchen unfolds, the kitchen as a practice and as a space, and we allow ourselves the surprise of gathering our useful objects; gathering the purchased ingredients, the ingredients to be transformed and ingested; and what remains from these practices. What happens when we collect, organize, and reorganize all these elements that carry stories, alchemies, and vital energies?
