Fragmentos Móviles
When the subject becomes an object, and a pretext is born between play and chance, other elements are added to the possibilities of creation. Intuition, randomness, limit, and mystery are configured in a language game. Taking out a couple of books, reading some fragments, recalling memories, amusingly browsing for a while, becomes part of the process.
Creating a deck of cards with a structure that converges on three axes: phrases, instructions, and concepts or words. Only three possibilities to draw three cards and create a work through them. A proposal in which the act of approaching is a ritual, a convergence of luck. But in luck, the occasion "not subject to calculations" is only one of the factors.
Another factor is the final result of the game, which depends not only on chance and the cards each player is dealt, but on the very form of the dialogue between the works as a reflection of their content.
Points, lines, and planes. Objects and figures. Pay attention to the language of objects in space. The word as a form occupies a place. It is suspended, it is in emptiness, in a breath of accumulated particles, in a pond it crosses a threshold, it is in a state of possibility.
Exhibition Text
This exhibition is an assemblage of moments, encounters with situations, and actions that happen out of sync. It is the result of the possibilities of chance:
A structure with the endpoint at the top reveals Estefanía's decision-making path. The movement of her body is the starting point for each idea. Awareness of her own axis in space leads her to trace a route to move along. An archipelago invented to her measure, high tide and the desert stage are the coordinates that give shape to this work.
A garden with petrified animals: toads, turtles, and fireflies, in which Daniel poses a game of reading and narration. The pretext to create an ecosystem where nature forms with industrial elements. This is a work of passive and ephemeral activation, welcoming yet cold at the same time, laden with drama, creating an environment for play and contemplation.
A rosary that changes its shape to become a plan, each mystery contained, found, and kept by David. A plate of chickpeas vacuum-sealed. Two paintings made of dust hiding ideas directed towards the imagination. And a small painting that reveals the origin of the world. Four works happening simultaneously. Four pieces that guide the silent reading of the elements.
A set of suspended pieces. The play of repetition and suspension of objects is an invention that challenges scale. Archaeological explorations, fossil discoveries or reinterpretations of these, traces, negatives, or object silhouettes are the clues to understand the cartography through which Sofia travels.
For this exhibition, it would be enough to find a curious eye attracted to a network of coincidences. An observer amidst so much attentive distraction.
